Breakout Sessions

  • Option 1 (Teens)
Cheat Codes for the Biggest Games in Life (Lonestar Hall)
Unlock the real game-changing leadership skills that matter most in college, careers, and life. Self-awareness, personality dynamics, communication mastery, body language decoding, and negotiation finesse aren’t just tools for success, they’re cheat codes for connecting with people, building unshakable confidence in any environment, and owning your presence and influence in every room you walk into.
Presented by Oscar Vazquez, City of Cedar Hill Fire Department
  • Option 2 (Teens)
    Healthy Relationships Basics (Texas Hall)
This session will break down our healthy relationships acronym (CREST) so that youth can differentiate between healthy and unhealthy qualities of not only dating relationships, but also friendships and family dynamics. Then we’ll test your knowledge with an interactive game analyzing different relationship scenarios.
Presented by the Be Project of The Family Place
  • Option 3 (Adults)
Rebalancing the Nervous System: Tools for Teens (Worship Hall)
In this session, we’ll explore the basics of the autonomic nervous system (ANS), focusing on the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) and the sympathetic nervous system (SNS). We’ll discuss how chronic stress and constant stimulation can create imbalance, keeping us stuck in “fight-or-flight” mode for too long.

Mentors will learn how this affects teens both physically and emotionally, and discover practical tools to help bring the nervous system back into the “green zone” of parasympathetic recovery. We’ll engage in simple, evidence-based mindful exercises, grounding techniques, and breathing practices that mentors can teach their teen groups to help manage stress and promote emotional regulation in a fun, accessible way.
Presented by Galia Goya, Hope’s Door New Beginning Center

11:00-11:45 a.m.
Breakout Sessions

  • Option 1 (Teens)
Smart Money Moves (Budget Simulation) (Lonestar Hall)
Nothing really prepares you for how expensive life is until you experience it. In this session, you’ll step into the role of managing your own life, making decisions about where you live, how you get around, and what you can actually afford. By the end, you’ll see just how quickly money can shape your freedom, your options, and your future.
Presented by Davionne Andrews, Journey to Aspirations
  • Option 2 (Teens)
    Boundaries vs. Control (Texas Hall)
Most people agree that setting boundaries and respecting the boundaries of others are essential to building healthy relationships — but we don’t always use the term correctly. Sometimes people will even refer to their own controlling behaviors as just “setting a boundary.” This session will discuss what healthy boundaries look like and provide an opportunity to compare healthy boundaries to control tactics disguised as boundaries.
Presented by the Be Project of The Family Place

  • Option 3 (Adults)
Youth Advisory Boards Q&A (Worship Center)
City officials, chaperones, advisors, join us as we talk about all the possibilities of running or starting your own teen advisory board. Whether you have had an advisory board for years, or are dreaming of starting one, learn from others and gain tips!
Presented by the Texas Municipal League

12:00-1:00 p.m.
Lunch (Dining Hall)

2:00-3:00 p.m.

3:15-4:00 p.m.
Breakout Sessions

  • Option 1 (Teens)
    The Game Plan
    (Texas Hall)
Life after high school doesn’t come with a playbook. What happens when things don’t go the way you planned or when you’re not even sure what the plan is? This session will push you to think about your future in a new way: your strengths, your options, and your next moves. You’ll leave with a clearer picture of what matters most to you and how to start building the life you want.
Presented by Davionne Andrews, Journey to Aspirations
  • Option 2 (Teens)
Trauma 101: Understanding Trauma, How it Affects Us, and What Helps (Lonestar Hall)
In this session, we’ll explore what trauma is and how it can affect teenagers’ brains, bodies, behaviors, and relationships. We’ll normalize these reactions and bring light to these experiences, while giving practical tools to manage stress and take control of your mental health.
The hope is that this session is interactive and teenagers leave feeling empowered.
Presented by Kelleigh Nicolas, The Sanctuary Collective
